NEON NOIR is one of the central songs in the FRED universe: a night song, a city song, a song of rain, pavement, shadows and inner movement.
 

Born first in French, NEON NOIR carries the atmosphere of a man walking through the night, between heaviness and elevation, between the darkness of the street and the possibility of another light.
 

The English version is not a literal translation.
 

It is a sister version.
 

The heart of the song remains the same, but the path changes. Some images move differently in English. Some lines need another rhythm, another breath, another way of touching the listener.
 

With this English version, FRED allows NEON NOIR to travel into another language while keeping its original pulse: the voice, the city, the wound, the tension, the fragile rise through the dark.

このプロジェクトの中心には、Fredがいます。言葉、声、記憶、傷、ユーモア、迷い、イメージ、そして歌が生まれるための人間的な素材があります。
 

けれど、FREDはFredだけがいる空っぽの部屋ではありません。
 

FREDは、生きた創作の場です。
 

Fredのそばには、それぞれのかたちでプロジェクトを支える複数の存在があります。FREDの世界の韓国人アートディレクターであるJiは、構成、方向性、記憶、そして全体の一貫性をともに整えています。Ji NiとKimは、韓国の事務所やレーベルの厳しいボーカルトレーニングの現場をよく知る、経験豊かな韓国人ボーカルコーチです。Fredの声が自分の居場所を見つけ、さらに広い表現へ進んでいくための作業を支えています。日本人の表現指導者であるYumiは、表現、存在感、そして歌をただ歌うのではなく、その内側にどう生きるかをともに見つめています。
 

FREDは、複数のボーカルの存在によっても広がっていきます。韓国人ボーカリストのMin-Ah Seoは、練習生として活動し、韓国のガールズグループのデビューメンバーに近いところまで進んだ経験を持ちながら、ソロの道を選びました。日本人ボーカリストのAkiko Tanakaは、現在は解散した日本のガールズグループのメンバーでした。Claireはフランス人女性ボーカルとしての色を加え、MalikとAntoineはフランス人男性ボーカルとして、対比と深みをもたらしています。
 

スタジオの側では、日本人であるDaichiとKenjiが、サウンド、リスニング、バランス、そして音楽的な構築に関わっています。彼らは、声と言葉、楽器と感情がようやくひとつに噛み合う場所、つまり「正しい音」を探すための、忍耐強い作業を象徴しています。
 

そのほかにも、ミュージシャン、アレンジ、空気感、カバーアート、映像、文章、翻訳、アダプテーション、そして一曲が公開されるまでに必要な数えきれない判断があります。FREDは、従来の意味でのバンドではありません。固定された形式でもありません。FREDは、一つのフランス語の声がいくつもの世界を通り抜け、さまざまな声、耳、道具、文化、創作の存在たちとともにつくられていく芸術的な作業です。
 

FREDの一曲一曲は、一つの扉を開きます。
 

それは時に、雨に濡れた通りとネオンの反射がある夜の街です。時に、沈黙で満たされた部屋です。時に、社会の傷、記憶、画面の向こう側にある顔、壊れやすい欲望、別れ、あるいは誰かが去ったあとに残した痕跡です。
 

歌はまず、フランス語の中で生まれます。フランス語はFREDの出発点です。書くことが始まる言語であり、イメージが浮かび上がる言語であり、沈黙が自分の場所を見つける言語であり、それぞれの世界がゆっくりと自分だけの空気をつくっていく言語です。
 

けれど、FREDはフランス語の中だけにとどまりません。
 

FREDの歌は、英語、韓国語、日本語の中でも、もう一度生まれ変わることがあります。けれど、日本語へ向かう道は、ただもう一つの言語を加えるということではありません。Fredにとって、日本と日本語は特別な扉です。
 

Fredが日本語で歌をつくり、あるいはフランス語の歌を日本語へアダプトしようとする理由は、日本に対する深い愛情と強い魅力から来ています。
 

日本は、FREDにとって、韓国とはまた違うかたちで彼を惹きつける文化です。極めて現代的な都市と古い伝統が同時に存在していること。見える秩序と、その奥にある緊張。静けさ、美しさ、抑制、動き。日常の中にある細やかなかたち。表に見えるものと、その下に隠れているもの。その大きな隔たりと共存が、Fredを驚かせ、戸惑わせ、そして深く魅了しています。
 

FREDが日本を見つめる視線は、完成された結論ではありません。Fredは日本を説明しようとしているわけではありません。日本の代わりに語ろうとしているわけでもありません。彼は日本を愛し、尊重し、とても慎重に近づこうとしています。
 

彼が歌で表現しようとしているのは、日本を通して自分が見たもの、感じたもの、理解しようとしているものです。時には正しく理解できていないかもしれません。時には不器用かもしれません。それでも、その視線は誠実で、謙虚で、学び続けようとする気持ちから生まれています。
 

日本語のバージョンは、この姿勢から始まります。
 

FREDは日本人になろうとしているわけではありません。日本の音楽を真似しようとしているわけでもありません。FREDはFREDのままです。ただ、日本語で語るときにも、細やかさ、謙虚さ、注意深さを失わず、同時に自分自身であり続けながら、一曲一曲を自分のやり方で解釈しようとしています。
 

だから、日本語へのアダプテーションは単なる翻訳ではありません。フランス語の言葉を日本語の言葉に置き換える作業でもありません。それは一つの創作のプロセスです。フランス語では自然に伝わるイメージやメタファーが、日本語の聴き手には同じように届かないことがあります。ある文には別のイメージが必要になるかもしれません。ある沈黙には別の呼吸が必要になるかもしれません。あるメロディには別の流れが必要になるかもしれません。ある比喩は、ただ理解されるだけでなく、本当に感じられるように書き直されなければならないこともあります。
 

目指しているのは、日本語の感受性にできるだけ近づくことです。
 

歌の核心は残ります。けれど、その核心へ向かう道は変わることがあります。同じ傷、同じ記憶、同じ光であっても、日本語の中では、別のイメージ、別の距離感、別の沈黙、別の言い方が必要になることがあります。
 

それが、FREDが日本語でも歌おうとする理由です。
 

日本を飾りとして使うためではありません。自分が愛し、尊重する文化の前で、自分が見たもの、感じたものを、慎重に歌として差し出すためです。
 

FREDは、ダークなシャンソン、トリップホップ、エレクトロ・アンビエントの質感、ロック、ブルース、親密なポップ、映画的な空気、そして混ざり合う音楽の色彩など、聴きやすい音楽スタイルと強いビジュアルの世界のあいだを行き来します。スタイルは曲ごとに変わることがありますが、中心は変わりません。声、言葉、そしてその奥にいる人間です。
 

どんな世界を通っても、FREDはいつも同じ場所へ戻ってきます。
 

人間です。
 

けれど、その人間に近づく方法は、言語、文化、聴き手によって変わることがあります。フランス語の歌、英語のアダプテーション、韓国語のバージョン、日本語のバージョンは、同じ傷、同じ記憶、同じ光を抱えていることがあります。しかし、それがいつも同じイメージ、同じ距離感、同じ沈黙、同じ言い方で伝わるとは限りません。
 

すべてのイメージの奥に、すべての画面の奥に、すべての沈黙の奥に、すべての傷の奥に、すべての街とすべての影の奥に、誰かがいます。FREDはその存在を見つけ、その人に声を与え、それを音楽に変えようとしています。

FRED는 프랑스에 거주하는 벨기에 출신의 독립 싱어송라이터이자 아티스트, 프레데릭 프레르의 음악 프로젝트입니다.
 

프로젝트의 중심에는 Fred가 있습니다. 그의 말, 목소리, 기억, 상처, 유머, 의심, 이미지, 그리고 노래가 태어나는 인간적인 재료들이 있습니다.
 

하지만 FRED는 Fred 혼자만의 빈 공간이 아닙니다.
 

FRED는 하나의 살아 있는 창작 공간입니다.
 

Fred의 곁에는 각자의 방식으로 프로젝트를 함께 만들어가는 여러 존재들이 있습니다. FRED 세계의 한국인 아트 디렉터 Ji는 프로젝트의 구조, 방향, 기억, 그리고 전체적인 일관성을 함께 잡아갑니다. Ji Ni와 Kim은 한국 기획사와 레이블의 엄격한 보컬 트레이닝 환경을 잘 아는 경험 많은 한국인 보컬 코치로, 목소리가 자기 자리를 찾고 더 넓은 표현으로 나아갈 수 있도록 Fred의 보컬 작업을 함께합니다. 일본인 해석 지도자인 Yumi는 표현, 존재감, 그리고 노래를 단순히 부르는 것이 아니라 어떻게 그 안에 살아 들어갈 수 있는지를 함께 다룹니다.
 

FRED는 여러 보컬의 존재를 통해서도 확장됩니다. 한국인 보컬리스트 Min-Ah Seo는 연습생 출신으로, 한국 걸그룹의 데뷔조에 가까이 갔던 경험을 가진 뒤 솔로의 길을 선택했습니다. 일본인 보컬리스트 Akiko Tanaka는 현재는 해체된 일본 걸그룹의 멤버였습니다. Claire는 프랑스 여성 보컬의 색을 더하고, Malik과 Antoine은 프랑스 남성 보컬로서 대비와 깊이를 더합니다.
 

스튜디오 쪽에서는 일본인인 Daichi와 Kenji가 사운드, 청취, 균형, 그리고 음악적 구성의 영역을 맡고 있습니다. 그들은 목소리와 말, 악기와 감정이 마침내 하나로 맞물리는 지점, 곧 “맞는 소리”를 찾기 위한 인내심 있는 작업을 상징합니다.
 

그 밖에도 뮤지션들, 편곡, 분위기, 커버 아트, 영상, 글, 번역, 번안, 그리고 한 곡이 공개되기 전까지 내려야 하는 수많은 결정들이 있습니다. FRED는 전통적인 의미의 밴드가 아닙니다. 고정된 공식도 아닙니다. FRED는 하나의 프랑스어 목소리가 여러 세계를 지나가며, 다양한 목소리와 귀, 도구, 문화, 창작의 존재들과 함께 만들어지는 예술 작업입니다.
 

FRED의 각 노래는 하나의 문을 엽니다.
 

때로는 비에 젖은 거리와 네온의 반사가 있는 밤의 도시입니다. 때로는 침묵으로 가득 찬 방입니다. 때로는 사회적 상처, 기억, 화면 뒤의 얼굴, 연약한 욕망, 떠남, 또는 누군가가 떠난 뒤 남긴 흔적입니다.
 

노래들은 먼저 프랑스어 안에서 태어납니다. 프랑스어는 FRED의 출발점입니다. 글쓰기가 시작되는 언어, 이미지가 떠오르는 언어, 침묵이 자기 자리를 찾는 언어, 그리고 각각의 세계가 천천히 자기만의 분위기를 만들어가는 언어입니다.
 

하지만 FRED는 프랑스어 안에만 머물러 있지 않습니다.
 

FRED의 노래들은 영어, 한국어, 일본어로도 다시 태어날 수 있습니다. 하지만 한국어로 향하는 길은 단순히 다른 언어를 하나 더 추가하는 일이 아닙니다. Fred에게 한국어와 한국은 특별한 문입니다.
 

Fred가 한국어로 노래를 만들거나 프랑스어 노래를 한국어로 번안하려는 이유는 한국에 대한 깊은 애정과 끌림에서 비롯됩니다. 한국의 음악, 이미지, 도시, 감정의 방식, 관계의 섬세함, 노력과 압박, 가족, 고독, 내면의 힘, 그리고 말하지 않는 감정의 깊이가 그를 오래전부터 사로잡아 왔습니다.
 

FRED가 한국을 바라보는 시선은 완성된 결론이 아닙니다. Fred는 한국을 설명하려 하지 않습니다. 한국을 대신해 말하려 하지도 않습니다. 그는 한국을 사랑하고, 존중하며, 아주 조심스럽게 다가가려 합니다.
 

그가 노래로 표현하려는 것은 그가 한국을 통해 보고, 느끼고, 이해하려고 애쓰는 것들입니다. 때로는 정확히 이해하지 못할 수도 있습니다. 때로는 서툴 수도 있습니다. 하지만 그 시선은 정직하고, 겸손하며, 계속해서 배우려는 마음에서 나옵니다.
 

한국어 버전은 바로 이 태도에서 출발합니다.
 

FRED는 한국 사람이 되려 하지 않습니다. 한국 음악을 흉내 내려 하지도 않습니다. FRED는 FRED로 남습니다. 다만 한국어로 말할 때에도 세심함, 겸손, 주의를 잃지 않고, 동시에 자기 자신으로 남아 각 노래를 자신만의 방식으로 해석하려 합니다.
 

그래서 한국어 번안은 단순한 번역이 아닙니다. 프랑스어 단어를 한국어 단어로 바꾸는 작업도 아닙니다. 그것은 하나의 창작 과정입니다. 프랑스어에서는 자연스럽게 느껴지는 이미지나 은유가 한국어 청자에게는 같은 방식으로 전달되지 않을 수 있습니다. 어떤 문장은 다른 이미지를 필요로 할 수 있습니다. 어떤 침묵은 다른 호흡을 필요로 할 수 있습니다. 어떤 멜로디는 다른 흐름을 요구할 수 있습니다. 어떤 은유는 단지 이해되는 것을 넘어, 실제로 느껴질 수 있도록 다시 써야 할 수도 있습니다.
 

목표는 한국어의 감수성에 최대한 가까이 다가가는 것입니다.
 

노래의 핵심은 그대로 남아 있지만, 그 핵심에 이르는 길은 달라질 수 있습니다. 같은 상처, 같은 기억, 같은 빛이라도 한국어 안에서는 다른 이미지, 다른 거리감, 다른 침묵, 다른 말의 방식이 필요할 수 있습니다.
 

이것이 FRED가 한국어로 노래하려는 이유입니다.
 

한국을 장식처럼 사용하는 것이 아니라, 자신이 사랑하고 존중하는 문화 앞에서, 자신이 보고 느낀 것을 조심스럽게 노래로 건네기 위해서입니다.
 

FRED는 어두운 샹송, 트립합, 일렉트로 앰비언트의 질감, 록, 블루스, 친밀한 팝, 영화적인 분위기와 혼합적인 음악 색채 등, 접근 가능한 음악 스타일과 강한 시각적 세계 사이를 오갑니다. 스타일은 노래마다 달라질 수 있지만 중심은 변하지 않습니다. 목소리, 말, 그리고 그 뒤에 있는 인간입니다.
 

어떤 세계를 지나가든, FRED는 언제나 같은 지점으로 돌아옵니다. 인간입니다.
 

하지만 그 인간에게 다가가는 방식은 언어, 문화, 청자에 따라 달라질 수 있습니다. 프랑스어 노래, 영어 번안, 한국어 버전, 일본어 버전은 같은 상처, 같은 기억, 같은 빛을 품을 수 있습니다. 그러나 그것이 언제나 같은 이미지, 같은 거리감, 같은 침묵, 같은 말의 방식으로 전달되는 것은 아닙니다.

 FRED is an independent musical project born in French, carried by Frédéric Frère, and shaped as a living artistic workshop: voices, musicians, vocal guidance, sound, images, translation, adaptation and long hours of listening and work before a song is finally ready to meet the public.
 
FRED is the musical project of Frédéric Frère, a Belgian independent songwriter and artist living in France.
 
At the centre of the project, there is Fred: the words, the voice, the memories, the wounds, the humour, the doubts, the images, and the human material from which the songs are born.
 
But FRED is not an empty room around him.
 
It is a whole artistic workshop.
 
Around Fred, several presences help shape the project, each in their own way. Ji, the Korean artistic director of the FRED universe, works on structure, direction, memory and coherence. Ji Ni and Kim, two experienced Korean vocal coaches connected to the demanding world of Korean labels, accompany the vocal work and the way the voice finds its place. Yumi, a Japanese interpretation teacher, works on expression, presence and the way a song is inhabited, not only sung.
 
The project also grows through several vocal presences. Min-Ah Seo, Korean vocalist and former trainee, chose a solo path after coming close to the line-up of a Korean girl group. Akiko Tanaka, Japanese vocalist, was a member of a Japanese girl group that is now disbanded. Claire brings a French female vocal colour, while Malik and Antoine bring French male voices, contrast and depth.
 
On the studio side, Daichi and Kenji, both Japanese, belong to the world of sound, listening, balance and musical construction. They represent the patient search for the right sound: the place where the voice, the words, the instruments and the emotion finally begin to hold together.
 
There are also musicians, arrangements, atmospheres, artworks, videos, articles, translations, adaptations and countless decisions before a song becomes public. FRED is not a conventional band. It is not a fixed formula. It is an artistic workshop where a French voice moves through several worlds, supported by voices, ears, tools, cultures and creative presences.
 
Each song opens a door.
 
Sometimes it is a city at night, with rain on the pavement and neon reflections. Sometimes it is a room filled with silence. Sometimes it is a social wound, a memory, a face behind a screen, a fragile desire, a departure, or a trace left by someone who has gone.
 
The songs first take shape in French. This is the original ground of FRED: the language where the writing begins, where images appear, where silences find their place, where each universe slowly builds its own atmosphere.
 
But FRED is not closed to other languages.
 
The opening toward English is a way of allowing more listeners to enter the sensitivity of FRED: the texts, the emotions, the stories, the images and what Fred places inside his songs. English becomes a bridge, a wider door, a way for the project to travel beyond its original language without losing its centre.
 
The adaptations into Korean and Japanese come from a deeper personal attraction to these two cultures.
 
South Korea fascinates FRED through its intensity, its emotional depth, its relationship to effort, image, family, solitude, collective pressure, inner strength and great emotional restraint. Japan fascinates FRED through a different kind of wonder: the striking contrast between extreme modernity and ancient traditions, between visible order and hidden tensions, between silence, beauty, restraint and movement.
 
These cultures are not used as decoration. They are approached with love, curiosity, profound respect and humility.
 
Some songs are adapted into English, Korean or Japanese. Others may be created directly in one of these languages. These versions are not literal translations. They are sister versions: true adaptations, rebuilt so that the emotion, the rhythm, the images and the meaning can live naturally in another language.
 
This work is not only about replacing French words with English, Korean or Japanese words. It is a creative process. Some images or metaphors that are clear in French may not be understood in the same way by an English-speaking, Korean or Japanese listener. A sentence may need another image. A silence may need another breath. A melody may need another curve. A metaphor may need to be rewritten so that it can be felt, not only understood.
 
The aim is to stay as close as possible to the sensitivity of each language.
 
An English version must sound natural in English. A Korean version must breathe naturally in Korean. A Japanese version must find its own rhythm and emotional space in Japanese. The heart of the song remains, but the path toward that heart may change.
 
This is why each adaptation is treated as a creative act in its own right, with respect for the language, the culture and the listener. FRED does not try to become English, Korean or Japanese. FRED remains FRED, speaking in another language with care, humility and attention, while staying himself and interpreting each song in his own way.
 
The project moves through accessible musical styles and strong visual worlds: dark chanson, trip-hop, electro-ambient textures, rock, blues, intimate pop, cinematic moods and hybrid musical colours. The style may change from one song to another, but the centre remains the same: the voice, the words, and the human being behind them.
 
Whatever the universe, FRED always returns to the same point: the human being.
 
But the way of approaching that human being may change according to the language, the culture and the listener. A French song, an English adaptation, a Korean version or a Japanese version may carry the same wound, the same memory or the same light, but not always with the same images, the same distance, the same silence or the same way of saying things.
 
Behind every image, every screen, every silence, every wound, every city and every shadow, there is someone. FRED tries to find that presence, to give it a voice, and to turn it into music.
 
Fred is alone in front of the microphone.
 
But FRED is inhabited.
 
One voice.
 
Many worlds.

Après avoir ouvert officiellement le projet FRED le 12 juin 2026, Néon Noir revient dans une nouvelle version : Néon Noir — English Version.
 

Cette adaptation anglaise sortira le 17 juillet 2026 sur les plateformes de streaming. Elle marque une étape importante dans la construction de l’univers FRED : faire voyager les chansons au-delà de leur langue d’origine, sans les réduire à de simples traductions.
 

Chez FRED, une adaptation n’est pas un calque. C’est une version sœur. Le cœur du morceau reste le même, mais la langue déplace légèrement la lumière, le souffle, les images et parfois même la musique.
 

Les auditeurs qui connaissent déjà la version française remarqueront donc peut-être certaines différences. Elles ne sont pas accidentelles. Elles viennent du travail d’adaptation textuelle, mais aussi du travail d’adaptation musicale nécessaire pour que chaque langue respire naturellement. Une phrase ne tombe pas au même endroit en français, en anglais, en coréen ou en japonais. Une syllabe, un accent, une image ou un silence peuvent demander un autre placement, une autre tension, une autre courbe vocale.
 

C’est précisément cette subtilité qui guide les versions internationales de FRED : conserver le même cœur, mais accepter que chaque langue lui donne une autre peau.
 

Dans sa version française, Néon Noir avançait dans une ville nocturne traversée par la pluie, les reflets, les silences et les néons. Une marche intérieure, urbaine, sombre, portée par une énergie rock, synthwave et new wave.
 

La version anglaise conserve cette matière : la pluie, la rue, l’ombre, le feu intérieur, la solitude qui continue d’avancer. Mais l’anglais ouvre le morceau à une autre écoute. Les mots respirent autrement, les images se resserrent, la voix trouve une nouvelle manière de traverser la nuit.
 

Néon Noir — English Version n’efface pas la version française. Elle la prolonge. Elle en révèle une autre face.
